July 23, 2006

Kerry took time to answers some fans questions today:

From Jay in Whitewood, SK

How is the adjustment from Ottawa to Regina going for you and your former Renegade teammates? Who is your pick for Super Bowl? Go Hawks!

I AM ADJUSTING REALLY WELL TO REGINA. MY OTTAWA TEAMMATES ARE DOING REALLY WELL HERE IN REGINA. I AM PICKING THE SEAHAWKS TO RETURN AND WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR.

Hey Kerry, More of a comment than a question. Welcome to Saskatchewan . I hope you enjoy life and success here. Have you settled into life in Regina?

THANKS FOR YOUR WELCOME, I AM BEGINNING TO SETTLE INTO THE CITY OF REGINA.

Hey Kerry, website looks terrific! I just wanted to say that, it is such a breath of fresh air to have a man such as yourself playing QB for our Roughriders. Your someone I know a lot of kids can look up too, a man of faith, hardworking and just an overall positive role model for kids in Regina and Saskatoon and all over the province. I always wanted to mention that I know playing here can be tough sometimes, it is a fishbowl, but really I see it no different then playing baseball in Boston , football in Green Bay , or hockey in Toronto . If fans come up and bug you about what you should have done here or there on this play, or this is what you should do this week& it isn't because they are pushy or anything, it may come off that way sometimes, but what it really means is that they truly care. Im sure you've noticed that if there is one thing that people in this province hold dear to their hearts it's the Green and White. For nearly the past 100 years this team has been what binds the people of this province, and fans right across this country together. I hope you have enjoyed your first few weeks in our friendly, quaint, and football rabid city and I look forward to many many more years of you winning Grey Cups for our beloved Riders. Your a true winner Kerry, in every sense of the word. Thanks a bunch, and go get those Argos on Saturday. Cheers Kevin

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT KEVIN

I am one of your biggest fans and im only 13. I even liked you in Ottawa . But I have a question . When and how did you decide to play football? Im going into highschool next year and im going to join the football team as a running back. And hopefully in about 10 years ill be on the RoughRiders! Thanks Daniel

I DECIDED TO PLAY FOOTBALL WHEN I WAS 8 YEARS OLD. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DREAM OF MINE. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR FOOTBALL CAREER IN HIGH SCHOOL. WORK HARD AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE A ROUGHRIDER ONE DAY.

Hi Kerry – I'm a diehard Rider (most Rider fans are) and just wanted to say how great it is that you are the starting QB of the Riders - You are a true professional in every sense of the word. I was wondering if you ever call your own plays or if you don't, do you have the authority to change a play in the huddle that is called from Coach Connell?? Thanks and good luck Sat – We'll be in Sec 28 watching you guys crush TO!!!!

I DON'T CALL MY OWN PLAYS, BUT COACH CONNDELL AND I HAVE GREAT LINE OF COMMUNICATION ON THE SIDELINE. THIS ALLOWS US TO HAVE SUCCESS NO MATTER WHAT PLAY IS CALLED.

From Sam Fong in Regina, SK:

First, I just want to say thank you for being part of the Riders Nation, and also for setting up the website so that fans like me have a chance to interact with a Rider player like yourself. My questions to you are, how are you coming along with your receivers especifically Matt D? I am a fan of the Riders and I am a huge fan of Matt D also, seems as though he is not as productive as he is capable of, is he still recovering from last year's injury? My second question, at what stage do you see our offense at, other team often mentioned the phase mid-season form, are we there? If not, what do you think needs to be done to get there? Once again, thanks for setting up this site and look forward to hearing from you.

IT IS COMING ALONG GOOD WITH THE RECEIVERS ON THE TEAM. I THINK MATT D. IS A GREAT RECEIVER AND WE ARE GETTING BETTER EVERY WEEK.

Comment: I have been a Roughrider fan for thirty years from my first live game in the western semi-final with Ron Lancaster as quarterback till now. It is great to have you as part of the Rider organization and what you can contribute to the team. My second youngest son & I will be travelling over 2000kms to watch you play on July 29. Last year at a home game we were let into the home endzone as the guys were coming out for warmup to look at the turf. A shadow appeared over us only to find Big Chill standing there and spoke to my young fella. My son was overwhelmed. Moments like this are priceless to our younger fans. There are not to many professional sports teams today where there is this closeness to the players and showing they are real people too. We are counting the sleeps to be in Regina . Good luck; God Bless and hope to meet you someday.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT. LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING YOUR CHEERS ON SAT. HOPEFULLY WE CAN MEET ONE DAY. HAVE A SAFE TRIP TO REGINA.

A Rider Fan from the East, and wanted to know what you find Different about the atmosphere between Regina and Ottawa, On Field as a player, Off Field as a player and Game Day regarding the Fans are they louder? Dont need specifics just curious about the general differences.. Cheers and GL on the 22nd :)

REGINA IS A CITY WITH FOOTBALL IN THE AIR 7 DAYS A WEEK. THE FANS ARE GREAT IN BOTH PLACES, BUT OFF THE FIELD PEOPLE IN REGINA SPEAK THEIR MIND A LITTLE MORE WHEATHER IT IS BAD OR GOOD.

From Kirk Ackerman in Regina, SK

As a QB what is the main thing you look for in a receiver?

I LOOK FOR RECEIVERS THAT WILL GET OPEN AND MAKE THE HARD CATCHES. WE HAVE RECEIVERS THAT WILL DO THIS.

Kerry, Welcome to the Riders! The CFL is a small league where many players from each team know one another. Who do you consider to be your good friends on other CFL teams? NFL teams? Have a great season!

Mark : JAY BELLAMY - NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, JOSH RANEK- HAMILTON TI-CATS, EZRA LANDRY- MONTREAL, BRAD BANKS- WINNEPEG BLUEBOMBERS

From Kevin Schuett in Regina, SK:

What was it like when you played safety in the NFL, and when you came to the CFL, was it hard to change positions. And how did you feel when you heard when Ottawa was losing there team.

IT WAS FUN HAVING A CHANCE TO HIT PEOPLE AND PLAYING AGAINST SOME GREAT RECEIVERS. IT WAS NOT HARD FOR ME TO CHANGE POSITION BECAUSE I WAS A QB FIRST. IT WAS DISAPPOINTING WHEN OTTAWA LOST ITS TEAM.
