Ask KJ

August 26, 2007

Kerry took some time during the Riders' bye week to answer fans questions:

From The Erath Boys:

CAN YOU TELL ME WHY KEVIN(YOUR BROTHER) TALKS SO MUCH TRASH? HE'S ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT HOW HE TAUGHT YOU EVERYTHING. IF YOU GET A CHANCE CAN YOU PLEASE ANSWER THAT ONE QUESTION.

WHATS UP FELLOWS FROM ERATH. KEVIN DID TEACH ME EVERYTHING BECAUSE HE IS BIG BROTHER. I LET HIM TO ALL THE TRASH TALKING AND I JUST KEEP PUTTING THE WORK IN UP HERE IN CANADA. YOU FELLOWS HOLD IT DOWN OUT THERE IN THE FLATS. KEVIN WILL ALWAYS BE BIG BROTHER. YOU FELLOWS BE BLESSED AND I WILL HOLLA.

- KJ

From Melanie:

I'm just hoping to encourage you after your loss; not sure if you really read this. I pray that you will be victorious in your next game. God bless... be uplifted :)

HELLO MELANIE, SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET BACK TO YOU, BUT THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT. GOD IS TRULY BLESSING OUR TEAM THIS YEAR. WE HAVE TO KEEP THIS WINNING STREAK GOING SO KEEP ON CHEERING. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Glenn Quebedeaux:

Kerry, congratulations on your pro career. I've always told people - from the time I covered your games for The Daily Iberian - that you'd be a pro one day. In fact, Steve Duplechin, son of Ernie Duplechin, is the principal at the high school here and he and I have talked about you a number of times. I remind him that USL wanted you to walk on as a punter, I believe, to Mcneese having the intelligence to sign you as a quarterback, to the NFL and now the CFL. It's great to see you having success. It was a great time covering people like you, johnny hector, leroy etiennce, gary joseph, corey raymond, van ray alexander, patrick guidry, etc. those were some years of some great teams and great athletes. i saw gary a couple of years ago and johnny a few before that, but haven't seen others. I've been living in crowley for a number of years now, so don't get back to new iberia too often. oh, by the way, i coached your buddy damien joseph years ago and see him every once in a while. in fact, his mother is a client (insurance) of mine. anyway, i just wanted to say i'm keeping up with your career and wish you the best of luck.

HELLO GLENN IT IS GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. THANKS FOR KEEPING UP. THINGS ARE GOING GREAT UP HERE AND I AM HAVING FUN UP HERE IN CANADA. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Shirley White:

I was very happy when you became a Rider. I think you are an "all star" man on the field and off!! Your hard work and determination is a great example for everyone. The Riders CAN beat any team in the league. The Riders WILL beat the other teams in the league this year. Kerry Joseph and The Riders ARE going to have a successful year!!! GO RIDERS GO.....I am looking forward to the next game.

HELLO SHIRLEY, THANKS FOR BEING A GREAT FAN OF THE RIDERS. WE ARE HAVING SO MUCH SUCCESS BECAUSE OF THE SUPPORT OF THE FANS IN RIDERVILLE

- KJ

From Josh

How many years have you been playing football?

WHATS UP JOSH, I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOOTBALL SINCE I WAS 9 YEARS OLD. I HAVE BEEN LOVING IT EVERY SINCE. THANKS FOR WRITING IN. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Joey Beaulieu:

Hey Kerry I am a big fan of yours ....It sucked to see ottawa fail in the CFL ...but my question is how are you liking the riders organization and how do you feel about living in Saskatchewan ?

ITS BEEN GREAT BEING HERE IN SASKATCHEWAN. I AM ENJOYING LIVING HERE IN SASKATCHEWAN. IT WAS SAD FOR THE FRANCHISE IN OTTAWA TO FAIL. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN BRING OTTAWA BACK SOON. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Scott Holstein

How about a little love for down here in Sunny Orlando. Sushi night ain't the same without you. Good luck on your season buddy. I am praying for you.

WHATS UP SCOTT, ALL IS GOOD UP HERE IN CANADA. I KNOW ITS NICE DOWN THERE IN ORLANDO. HOPE THE FAMILY AND EVERYBODY IS WELL. THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Navarra

Okay, let's hope I compose these questions with precision and that they are not repeat questions (sorry if so). What significant differences do you observe (in terms of strategy and skill development) between being coached by Kent Austin versus any other coach you've had?

KENT HAS BROUGHT A LOT OF KNOWLEDGE TO THE QB POSITION. HE HAS GREAT LEADERSHIP QUALITIES THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCORPORATED INTO MY GAME. I HAVE HAD MANY GREAT COACHES AND I THINK THEY ALL BRING DIFFERENT ATTRIBUTES TO THE POSITION. THANKS FOR THE QUESTION. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Jeremy

First off as a life long rider fan id like to say im really glad you are gettin the snaps. im a fan of the dual threat qb and i love what you are able to create on the run and in the pocket. you remind me alot of mike vick just not with the dog fightin. but i liked your and armsteads work in ottawa. but my main question is how are tillman and austin different playing under then compared to shivers and danny b. also when me and my dad watch you some time take off on the run you get hit and sum times you pop up sorta limping i was just wondering. is that realting back to you knee injury last year . or is it just one of the hits were its a blunt pain and you just walk it off. thanks good luck through out the 2007 season oh yea and plz beat the lions!

WHATS UP JEREMY? I TRY NOT TO COMPARE BETWEEN THE PAIR OF GMS AND COACHES BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE THEIR OWN STYLE FOR GETTING THE JOB DONE. AS A PLAYER YOU JUST TRY TO CONCENTRATE ON YOUR JOB AND NOT GET INTO THE FRONT OFFICE DEBATE. SORRY IF THAT DOES NOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. MY KNEE IS FINE, SOME HITS YOU JUST HAVE TO GET UP AND WALK IT OFF.

- KJ

From Breylan Fiset

Kerry I thought you played great against Edmonton yesterday. Im 11 yrs. old and starting my first year of football in August. Im wondering what the hardest thing about being a QB is because im going to be a wide receiver and back-up QB. Good luck for the rest of the season. Your big fan. Breylan Fiset

HELLO BREYLAN, THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING A QUARTERBACK IS JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE PREPARED TO EXECUTE THE GAME PLAN AND KNOWNING WHAT EVERYBODY ON OFFENSE HAS TO DO. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ON YOUR SEASON.

- KJ

From Matt Harrison

Hi Kerry, Just had a quick question for you. I was wondering how much of a jolt it is to have a new coaching group come in. From a fans perspective this years offense seems more exciting than last years, I hate to make a comparison question, but do you find that the offensive package this years is more exciting for the players to play in? Cheers Matt

IT HAS BEEN GREAT WITH THE NEW COACHING STAFF. THIS OFFENSE WILL BE EXCITING AS WE CONTINUE TO PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Alex

What is your favorite NHL team? And are you a Christian? Good Luck this year Kerry. Hope you have the ability to lead us into the Grey Cup.

OTTAWA SENATORS. YES I AM A CHRISTIAN. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. WE WILL STRIVE FOR THE GREY CUP THIS YEAR. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From JAMIE OLIVIER(DUSTIN)

When are you going to send Kaine a football?

WHATS UP DUSTIN? I WILL HOOK YOU UP WHEN I GET BACK HOME. BE BLESSED,

- KJ

From Daniel Gagne

Hey, Kerry. Awesome game again. Every week you make me more a believer in your offensive leadership, and I know you're winning over many other fans too. You've been exciting to watch every game. Love the way your playing, love what you're doing for the kids, and love the fact that you have this site so I can praise your efforts. When you talk about watching replays of your games, you should see if TSN wouldn't mind you mentioning Tsn broadband. It's awesome, and I've watched replays of every Roughrider game this season. Everybody should know what a great resource is available on the Internet. Kick royal arss in Toronto on Friday. Never forget that second half in Edmonton, and I think you guys can keep winning. Daniel Gagne Moose Jaw P.S. I told you that coach Austin was wrong to not let you run the quarterback sneak in Edmonton. That 1 yard sneak in BC was a huge touchdown in the early stages of that game. I don't think coach will doubt you and the O-line again. You guys may be the best group out there!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT DANIEL, WE WILL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK THIS YEAR. BE BLESSED,

- KJ.
